In his welcome address, the Hon. Attorney General and Minister of Justice emphasised the importance of a unified approach to implementing Justice Sector Reforms. The Justice Sector Reform Strategy (2024-2030), which is aligned with the country’s Medium-Term National Development Plan (2024-2030) and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030), outlines a comprehensive roadmap for reforms in the justice sector, with emphasis on increased equal access to justice for all, improved case management in the justice system, enhanced adherence to human rights and the rule of law, and strengthened capacity of sector institutions for service delivery. Heads of institutions were urged to prioritise the Strategy’s key policy areas and activities, including legal and judicial reforms, capacity building, the use of technology to streamline justice delivery, and making justice services and facilities widely available to citizens.

Each participant presented their priorities for 2025/2026, highlighting the need for a more coordinated and collaborative approach to justice service delivery. The meeting further agreed to review the existing Justice Sector CommunicationsStrategy (2021 – 2025) in order to assess its effectiveness in facilitating information sharing and collaboration among justice sector institutions. Participants acknowledged the need to update the Communications Strategy to reflect emerging challenges and opportunities, particularly in the areas of digital communication and public engagement. The Hon. Attorney General and Minister of Justice stressed the need for promoting trust in the country’s justice system and to communicate the achievements of the sector and address the public concerns. He challenged the Justice Sector Communications Team to develop a new Communications Framework that aims to improve transparency, accountability, and stakeholder engagement. These will foster a culture of open dialogue, ensuring timely dissemination of information, and enhance public awareness of justice sector initiatives.
The meeting highlighted the need to strengthen reporting and coordination mechanisms among sector institutions. In an open dialogue, Heads of institutions committed to ensuring the timely submission of quarterly and annual reports, which will be used to monitor progress, identify challenges, and inform decision-making. The Hon. Attorney General and Minister of Justice underscored the importance of data-driven approaches to enhance accountability and measure the impact of justice sector interventions.

In conclusion, the Hon. Attorney General and Minister of Justice expressed optimism about the outcomes of the meeting, noting that the discussions marked a significant step toward fostering greater collaboration and synergy among justice sector institutions. He reiterated the government’s commitment to building a justice system that is efficient, accessible, and responsive to the needs of all citizens.
